RCMP warns public about fradulent phone calls

The Swan River RCMP is reminding the public to be diligent against scams and frauds, most recently with calls from people pretending to be Canada Revenue Agency employees.

No legitimate government institution will ask you to share personal information over the telephone, text or internet. If you have any doubts, hang up and contact the institution yourself.

The RCMP is also warning of fraudulent calls in which the caller identifies themselves as an officer to collect fines or taxes.

Anyone who receives a call of this nature should hang up immediately and contact their local police and the Canadian Anti-Fraud Center at 1·888·495·8501.
