Twyla Machan Email: editor@starandtimes.ca	There is always plenty happening throughout the Swan Valley, and at the Star and Times you get a front row seat to all the action – from it’s-happening-right-now news, to community events, to sports, to meeting those who make this area a great place to live – and as a reporter for the past six or so years, it has all been a wonderful experience. However, as time moves forward, things change, and so to has my position. It’s been a big change becoming the editor – plenty more responsibility –  and it isn’t always easy, but it is a challenge I certainly enjoy. With change, comes new opportunities as well, a chance to freshen things up and try something different. And while we will continue to cover the topics that matters most to you, if you have any ideas you would like to share, feel free to contact me.t

I feel incredibly fortunate, and grateful to be introducing myself as the new reporter at the Star and Times.  My name is Jackie (Hamelin) Mayuk and I couldn’t be happier to be making my living writing about the community I grew up in. I love the Swan Valley, for so many reasons. I love the way people wave to you when they pass by, even if they don’t know you. I love the way you can wander into a coffee shop and always see a familiar face. Mostly, I love the close-knit community feeling that comes from living in a small town.  Since I’ve been here, I’ve been challenged and rewarded every day. I truly love what I do, and I hope it reflects in my writing. Having read the Star and Times for years, I have no doubt the readers will let me know where they feel I need to improve, and I look forward to hearing from you, whether the feedback is positive or negative.  The team that puts this paper out every week is a truly remarkable one, and I am so honoured to be a part of it. I look forward to being a part of the Star and Times and the Swan Valley for many happy years.
