New Friday curling league set to begin

For those that are looking to give curling a try, or mix it up with different opponents, Friday night open curling is the place to be.
Starting this Friday (Jan. 5) at the Swan River Community Centre, Friday night curling is sure to be a fun evening of six-end games.
“The teams for Friday night can be (with anybody) – juniors mixed with seniors, all junior team, all men or all ladies, or mixed – there is no requirement,” said organizer Kent Meyn, adding that while it is preferred that teams of four sign up, he may be able to match up straggling players that are looking for a full team.
Friday night curling is scheduled to run every week until the latter half of March, with the exception of some weeks due to pre-scheduled bonspiels. Each team will play one game each week.
“We need at least eight teams to make this league work, but it would be great to see 12 teams and fill up all the sheets,” said Meyn.
“The upstairs viewing area will be open, as well as the concession and the bar. Anyone that would like to come watch or stay after the games for the social side of curling are more than welcome.”
The season cost per team to sign up is $200. Call or text Meyn at 204·281·2370 to enter, or for more information.
